Carl & Elizabeth Shamhart created a History of South Webster for the Centennial Celebration in 1987. Part 5 of this book was titled “Down Memory Lane”. It served as a pamphlet for the guided tours that were conducted around town to view historic buildings and sites.

When the residents of Webster and Bloomfield petitioned the county commissioners to incorporate as a village, the proposed name of the new village was “Oakdale” Here is a copy of the original plat map from 1887. Thanks to Bill & Sarah Fenton for donating this copy to the village for its records.
